A young man is lucky to be alive, police say, after being stabbed multiple times in the back and arm in Wellington. <\/p>\n
Police were called to a carpark between Wakefield St and Tory St in Te Aro at around 4.10am on Sunday. <\/p>\n
“The victim sustained multiple stab wounds to the arm and the back,” a police spokesperson said. <\/p>\n
The young man was taken to hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit. He remained in hospital in a stable condition. <\/p>\n
Detective Senior Sergeant Tim Leitch said the man was lucky to survive. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe victim sustained multiple wounds in his back, any of which could have been fatal.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis could have very easily been a homicide investigation.” <\/p>\n
He said officers were following “strong lines” of inquiry to locate those responsible. <\/p>\n
Leitch said investigators knew there was a “significant number” of people in the area when the incident happened, and urged witnesses and those with footage to come forward. <\/p>\n
