Dave Coulier<\/a>, who played Joey on Full House, has been diagnosed with a second type of cancer, just seven months after he completed treatment for Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. \u201cA couple of months ago, I had a PET scan, and something flared on the scan,\u201d the Full House actor told the TODAY<\/a> show on December 2. \u201cThe doctor said, \u2018We don\u2019t know what it is, but there\u2019s something at the base of your tongue.\u2019\u201d After several tests and assessments, with the most recent one happening in October, he learned that he had cancer again; this time, they found P16-positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma, a type of tongue cancer. \u201cThey said it\u2019s totally unrelated to my non-Hodgkin\u2019s lymphoma. This is a new cancer. \u2026 I said, \u2018Are you kidding me?\u2019\u201d Coulier shared. Thankfully, he\u2019s almost done with treatment. \u201cWe found it early enough where it\u2019s very treatable. \u2026 It\u2019s got a 90% curability rate,\u201d says Coulier, who\u2019ll be undergoing treatment until the end of the year. \u201cThe doctor said the prognosis is good, but we\u2019re going to start radiation immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Coulier celebrated his final treatment for his Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma with his former castmates. \u201cWe\u2019re a family, and so we get these text strings, and it\u2019s always funny, and that keeps us connected,\u201d Coulier\u00a0shared<\/a>\u00a0of his\u00a0Full House\u00a0friends\u2019 support on March 31. \u201cAnd, you know, Candace [Cameron Bure] has FaceTimed me a couple of times, and Lori [Loughlin] has FaceTimed me a couple times. John [Stamos] FaceTimes me like every day. We\u2019re very close. I love them all so dearly.\u201d He first shared his diagnosis on November 24 and, since then, has become an advocate for testing and early detection. \u201cThe silver lining here is that I had cancer, which helped me detect my other cancer. It seems crazy to be making that statement, but it\u2019s true,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n
