At the hospital, Doctors rushed the retired Hollywood lighting director into a three-hour surgery, where they amputated his foot and lower leg.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was no option. I was told the leg had to be removed, and it was a case of life or death,\u201d Thomas Jr. said.<\/p>\n

Now, doctors say he needs another procedure for a blood clot in his left thigh and are \u201cextremely concerned\u201d about possible infection.<\/p>\n

The medical team confirmed, \u201cThe wound is healing, but the next 24 to 72 hours are critical. We need to make sure the wound heals and does not become infected.\u201d<\/p>\n

At 81 years old, doctors fear that even a minor setback could turn serious very quickly.<\/p>\n

Thomas, who raised Meghan Markle from age 11 to 18 as a single parent, has been in declining health for years.<\/p>\n

He previously suffered two heart attacks, a massive stroke in 2022 that affected his speech, and ongoing mobility issues.<\/p>\n
