Fans of Malcolm in the Middle<\/a> have a big reason to celebrate as the beloved sitcom is set to return after two decades off air. Hulu<\/a> has released the first teaser for the four-episode revival series, officially titled Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, which is scheduled to premiere in 2026.<\/p>\n The brief trailer pays homage to a familiar scene in the Wilkerson household, as it shows someone, likely Hal Wilkerson, having his back hair shaved off with an electric razor. The show’s title is then formed with his discarded hair.<\/p>\n In pilot episode of the original series, Hal was seen having his body hair shaved off by his wife in the kitchen as three of his four sons watched wide-eyed.<\/p>\n The new series picks up as Malcolm, played by Frankie Muniz, is drawn back into his family’s orbit for the first time in years. According to the official synopsis, Malcolm has been shielding himself and his daughter from his chaotic family for over a decade, but finds himself pulled back into their world<\/a> when he is obligated to attend Hal and Lois’s 40th wedding anniversary party.<\/p>\n Fans will also see the return of Bryan Cranston, Jane Kaczmarek, Justin Berfield, Christopher Masterson, and Emy Coligado. Caleb Ellsworth-Clark will be taking over the role of Dewey and Anthony Timpano is set to be introduced as the family’s youngest child, Jamie.<\/p>\n Sadly, Erik Per Sullivan, who originally played Dewey, will not be returning to the series. While on the Fly on the Wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade podcast, Bryan explained that he reached out to Erik about the revival, but the actor has since pursued a different career path and is currently completing a master’s degree at Harvard.<\/p>\n Frankie, who recently celebrated his 40th birthday, described filming the revival as an unexpectedly joyful experience. During an appearance on the Lightweights Podcast with Joe Vulpis in September, he admitted: \u201cI loved it so much, way more than I ever thought I could have.\u201d<\/p>\n He added that while it was \u201chard to fit in 20 years of stuff in four 30-minute episodes”, he believes fans will be pleased with what the team has produced.<\/p>\n The revival was officially greenlit in December 2024 and will be produced by Disney Branded Television and 20th Television.
