Zak Brown has branded an Australian Senator as “uninformed and uneducated” following claims of bias against Oscar Piastri in the title race.<\/p>\n
Matt Canavan asked earlier this week during a hearing of the Senate’s Rural, Regional Affairs and Transportation Committee whether “McLaren is biased against Oscar Piastri and costing him the championship?”<\/p>\n
Secretary Jim Betts did not answer the question, with some believing McLaren is biased against Piastri as it wants Lando Norris to be crowned world champion.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This is based on a number of decisions fans of Piastri believe have gone against him, such as the Monza team order to switch positions back with Norris after a slow pit-stop.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, responding to Canavan’s comments, Brown firmly rubbished them in a strong retort of the Queensland Senator.<\/p>\n
“We have done the best we can. Oscar himself has talked about how fair and equitable [we have been],” Brown told Sky Sports F1.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“We make mistakes, but Oscar has been our number one spokesperson. He’s never said a single word that anything has ever not felt right.<\/p>\n
“I saw what the senator said. Clearly, he’s very uninformed and uneducated about our sport.<\/p>\n
“That’s the cool thing about sport. People get very supportive of their heroes, of their countries, so I’m not surprised to see people waving the flag for their drivers.<\/p>\n
“It’s most important to us that our team knows.<\/p>\n
“And there are a lot of uneducated people out there and their views, and I’d spend all day trying to correct them, so it is what it is.”<\/p>\n
The American later further added to media, including RacingNews365, that the team works on “blocking out” external noise.<\/p>\n
“All that’s really important to us is how the team operates and works together and works with our drivers, so we block it all out,” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“I have seen it, and some of the comments that you see are very uninformed, but it’s sport, it’s emotional, people are entitled to their opinions, and I can’t go around correcting everyone’s views. But you do see some nonsense out there.”<\/p>\n
