First-look pictures for a \u201csurprising\u201d new thriller starring Sydney Sweeney<\/a> and Amanda Seyfried<\/a> have been released. <\/p>\n

The Housemaid is based on the bestselling novel by Freida McFadden and stars Sweeney as a woman named Millie, who is trying to restart her life after a difficult past. <\/p>\n

She gets a job as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy Winchester family and moves in with Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew (It Ends With Us\u2019 Brandon Sklenar). <\/p>\n

However, things take a dangerous turn, with the logline for the film promising a “seductive game of secrets, scandal and power” behind closed doors. <\/p>\n

Directed by A Simple Favor\u2019s Paul Feig, the cast also includes Michele Morrone as groundskeeper Enzo and Elizabeth Perkins as Andrew\u2019s difficult mother. <\/p>\n

Though the first preview images of The Housemaid don’t reveal too much about the film’s twists and turns, it’s expected to be fairly similar to the events of the novel. <\/p>\n

Via People<\/a>, Feig called the film\u2019s script, which was penned by Rebecca Sonnenshine, a \u201cfaithful interpretation\u201d of the novel, but revealed there were \u201ca good number of added surprises along the way\u201d. <\/p>\n

“And no, I\u2019m not teasing any of the surprises,” he added. “They must be seen to be believed.”

Millie, according to Feig, is “someone we invest in immediately as she walks into what to her is a very foreign world of wealth and high expectations”, whereas Nina is “a portrait of unpredictability and extremes”.<\/p>\n

Speaking about her role, Sweeney said that her character Millie is “the type of character I love to play: complex, strong and with a little something up her sleeve\u201d.<\/p>\n

Seyfried added: “The film captures everything fans loved about the book \u2014 the secrets, the tension and the twists. We can\u2019t wait for audiences to immerse themselves in the experience.”
