{"id":174148,"date":"2025-12-08T19:41:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T19:41:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/174148\/"},"modified":"2025-12-08T19:41:12","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T19:41:12","slug":"dublin-welcomes-artificial-christmas-tree-recycling-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/174148\/","title":{"rendered":"Dublin welcomes artificial Christmas tree recycling programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Running from now until 31 January 2026, Project reTREE is an initiative that aims to recycle artificial trees in Ireland for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>Artificial trees without lights attached are often considered general waste at end-of-life, while artificial trees with lights attached are considered electronic waste, making both a significant environmental challenge for consumers and for the planet.<\/p>\n<p>Now, though, a collaboration between Balsam Hill, D\u00fan Laoghaire\u2013Rathdown County Council, South Dublin County Council, WEEE Ireland, Thorntons Recycling, Panda and bring-centre teams, means that Dubliners can carry out responsible recycling.<\/p>\n<p>A dedicated drop-off centre is now available in D\u00fan Laoghaire-Rathdown at the Ballyogan Recycling Park.
