And while its power is phenomenal, researchers have discovered that certain celestial objects manage to survive it. And this is surprising, because the power of such a structure is capable of tearing apart many stars, planets, and interstellar clouds.

Thus, it was with the help of the ERIS instrument of the Very Large Telescope in Chile, that astronomers made this discovery. And that’s not all, because their observations invalidated previous studies that estimated that these celestial objects would disappear into this black hole.

For example, several years ago, scientists studied G2, a cloud of gas and dust, which was located in a critical zone that could lead to its loss. But the opposite happened, because astronomers saw that this structure had simply passed through the black hole, avoiding the event horizon, without undergoing any changes. As a result, Dr. Florian Peißker put forward a hypothesis to explain this situation and believes that a star is present in this cloud of gas and dust, allowing it to maintain a stable orbit.

Other celestial objects have been studied, such as D9, which is a binary star system that has not yet merged. In addition, X7 appears to be continuing its northward trajectory, and X3 accelerated by about 100 km/s. Therefore, it would appear that the surroundings of this cosmic monster are rather calm, which contrasts with its destructive power.

Alexis Stegmann – Tech Writer – 422 articles published on Notebookcheck since 2025

I’ve been working in the field of web writing for several years, and I’m passionate about keeping readers up to date with the latest news on astronomy, technology, the world of video games and other exciting subjects.
