Trainers Katherine Coleman and Peter Moody<\/a> will chase a share of the big bucks but won’t have the worries about getting their representative to the starting gate in Saturday’s $1m Supernova at Pakenham.<\/a><\/p>\n

Moody Racing has held slots for both editions of the Supernova, finishing fifth with Roll On High<\/a> in last year’s inaugural running of the Pakenham Cup Day feature.<\/p>\n

However, Roll On High’s owners have since transferred the mare to the Hayes brothers<\/a>, while Moody and Coleman’s top performers such as Sandown Guineas winner Sheza Alibi<\/a> are enjoying breaks after their spring campaign.<\/p>\n

Therefore, Moody and Coleman decided to look outside the stable for their Supernova representative.<\/p>\n

The pair didn’t look any further than the Pakenham trainers’ complex, securing the Dan Meagher<\/a>-trained Lim’s Kosciuszko<\/a> as their contender for their home track event.<\/p>\n

“We just didn’t have anything suitable in our own barn so we just made inquiries elsewhere,” Coleman said.<\/p>\n

“Dan Meagher’s horse was a good option for us and he’s a fellow Pakenham trainer.<\/p>\n

“Hopefully we can keep the money at Pakenham.<\/p>\n

“It’s interesting and given we didn’t have anything suitable, I’m happy to have a fellow Pakenham trainer in that spot.”<\/p>\n

The former Singapore star has not won in four Australian starts but Coleman said the eight-year-old’s first-up run when narrowly beaten over 1100m at Caulfield went a long way to securing their backing for the Supernova.<\/p>\n

Coleman said stepping up to 1400m, at which Lim’s Kosciuszko has won twice from four starts, would enable the son of Kermadec to go close again on Saturday.<\/p>\n

“He trialled well and ran really well at Caulfield first-up,” Coleman said.<\/p>\n

“That race was too short for him as he’s never been a 1200m horse.<\/p>\n

“Dan said his best has always been around that 1400m mark so Pete was pretty keen to get a slot for him second-up.”<\/p>\n

Despite not having Lim’s Kosciuszko in the stable, Coleman joked that she has kept a close eye on the gelding every day at trackwork in the lead-up to the Supernova.<\/p>\n

“Each morning since we decided, I’ve been asking Dan how \u2018my horse’ is, whether he ate up and how he worked,” Coleman said.<\/p>\n

Lim’s Kosciuszko is a $26 chance to produce a hometown upset.<\/p>\n

Sydney galloper Private Eye<\/a>, who will run in Ladbrokes’ spot, is a dominant $2.25 favourite in early betting.<\/p>\n
