It feels like a lifetime ago that season 2 premiered on Netflix this summer after a nearly three-year wait following season 1, but it turns out fans were more than willing to wait it out and return in droves. On December 3, the 91-day window for how Netflix calculates its most-watched titles came to an end for Volume 2, and Wednesday season 2 has now cemented itself as the fourth most-watched English-language series of all time.<\/p>\n
Before we get to the headline numbers, it\u2019s worth noting that Season 2 had an extended runtime of about an hour (6:49 vs 7:47), which naturally affects how views are calculated. We also need to note that tracking the overall top 10 performance for season 2 has been particularly difficult, as with all other split seasons, because of how the numbers shake out at the end.\u00a0<\/p>\n
As a reminder, the 91-day window accounts for all viewing hours for volume 1, 91 days after its release, and 91 days after volume 2\u2019s release. Once all those hours are in, it\u2019s then divided by the total season viewership. That means there are weeks when volumes 1 and 2 overlap in contributing to the final number, and others when they don\u2019t.<\/p>\n
So, after its 91-day period is up, Wednesday season 2 ends its run with 928.50 million hours watched, which equates to 119.3M views.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wednesday season 1 ended its 91-day run with 1,718.8M hours watched, which equates to 252.1M views.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In percentage terms, that\u2019s a 52% drop in views and a 45% drop in pure viewing hours season over season. That is significant, but worth reminding that season 1 was an absolute monster and benefited from a quieter slate, and lots of time over Thanksgiving and Christmas to pick up views. It\u2019s also worth remembering that even though it\u2019s a big drop-off, it\u2019s still one of Netflix\u2019s biggest titles of all time.\u00a0<\/p>\n
That viewership difference is evident in the raw hours chart for season 1 vs season 2, comparing the 11 weeks Wednesday S2 appeared in the charts to the first 15 weeks<\/a> of season 1. Season 2 naturally got a big bump once volume 2 released but by that point, season 1 had sailed off into the distance.\u00a0<\/p>\n As it stands then, what does the overall top 10 look like as of December 12th? Here\u2019s the TV English top 10.<\/p>\n Wednesday S1 The only show that can unseat it right now is Stranger Things season 4, which is on track to match or beat Stranger Things 4, so watch this space. The next data drop we\u2019ll get for Wednesday will be when Netflix drops its H2 2025 Netflix Engagement report.\u00a0<\/p>\n Season 3 has been long in the works, though it is still in active development, with pre-production starting soon for what we understand will be a February 2026 shoot start.
