The Food and Drug Administration says 11,136 bottles of a blood pressure medication sold under the brand name Ziac have been recalled. New Jersey-based Glenmark Pharmaceuticals recalled the medication after testing of reserve samples showed the presence of traces of ezetimibe.<\/p>\n

Ezetimibe is a medication used to treat high cholesterol, not blood pressure. <\/p>\n

The recall applies to bisoprolol fumarate and hydrochlorothiazide tablets that are labeled as Ziac. The recall involves 2.5 mg and 6.25 mg doses that were distributed in the following packages:<\/p>\n

30-count bottles NDC-68462-878-30100-count bottle NDC-68462-878-01500-count bottles NDC-68462-878-05<\/p>\n

The recalled tablets were produced in lot numbers: <\/p>\n

Lot No. 17232401, exp 11\/2025Lot No. 17240974, exp 05\/2026<\/p>\n

The recall was first announced on Nov. 21 and upgraded on Dec. 1 to a Class III event.<\/a> A Class III recall is considered ” not likely to cause adverse health consequences,\u201d according to the FDA. So far, no adverse reactions have been reported due to the issue. <\/p>\n
