I&#8217;m so glad to be out from under this mess.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The former host also praised current hosts like Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and Seth Meyers for \u201cdoing such a masterful job of defending this democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Letterman added, \u201cAbout all I&#8217;m capable of is showing up every now and then and saying f*** Waymo and that\u2019s it,\u201d referencing the self-driving car company.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank God for you, thank God for others, SNL, and everybody else. It\u2019s just, I think it\u2019s the way things need to be in a democracy that\u2019s seemingly this crippled.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kimmel then joked about giving praise only to himself and reminded viewers to credit Jon Stewart and The Daily Show for their contributions.<\/p>\n<p>Letterman&#8217;s\u00a0comments come shortly after Kimmel\u2019s ABC contract was extended, despite US President Donald Trump\u2019s ongoing feud with the host.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"David Letterman says he has no regrets about stepping away from late-night television.
