\u201cAnd \u2026 is he dead?\u201d Rogan asked his producer Jamie Vernon. \u201cOne of the guys out there just said it was confirmed that he was dead.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cMurdered for having a different opinion from somebody else,\u201d Sheen said. \u201cDifferent ideology from somebody else \u2026 beliefs that didn\u2019t align.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah. Yeah,\u201d Rogan said, at a loss for words. \u201cI mean \u2026 I don\u2019t know who did it or \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Vernon then confirmed news reports that Kirk had died.<\/p>\n
\u201cRest in peace. F***,\u201d Sheen said. \u201cHe didn\u2019t deserve that. Nobody deserves that.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cF***,\u201d Rogan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s going to be a lot of people celebrating this. It\u2019s so scary. It\u2019s so dangerous too, to celebrate or to in any way encourage this kind of behaviour from human beings. He\u2019s not a violent guy, he\u2019s talking to people on college campuses. He wasn\u2019t even particularly rude. He tried to be pretty reasonable with people.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything I saw seemed reasonable,\u201d Sheen said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s a very intelligent guy whether you agree with him or don\u2019t,\u201d Rogan said. \u201cAnd there\u2019s a lot of stuff I didn\u2019t agree with him on, that\u2019s fine. You\u2019re allowed to disagree with people without celebrating the fact that he got shot.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSure, but you can\u2019t disrespect his passion,\u201d Sheen said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat you\u2019re supposed to do with a guy like that if you\u2019re opposing him is debate him, have a conversation where your argument is more compelling than his,\u201d Rogan said. \u201cThat\u2019s what people should be celebrating, discourse, we used to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDo some homework and bring it to the table,\u201d Sheen agreed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is horrible, but I know people are going to celebrate it because this is a f***ed up time,\u201d Rogan said. \u201cPeople have really fallen into this trap of us against them.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBut it\u2019s also going to make people not want to be as courageous and as forthright with the things they believe,\u201d Sheen said.<\/p>\n
The Two and a Half Men star said it was the kind of incident that was always \u201cin the back of our minds\u201d as celebrities during public appearances.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now it doesn\u2019t seem real,\u201d Rogan said. \u201cIt seem so crazy \u2026 it\u2019s not registering.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rogan said he had met Kirk once at a gun range. \u201cHe was a nice guy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a f***ed up time, people are so divided in this country. There\u2019s so many people that love it, that profit off that division. It\u2019s so gross. One of the most horrific things you could do after someone dies horribly like this is celebrate. It should be a wake-up call for everybody. This is nuts.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a dark day,\u201d Sheen said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of two things is going to happen \u2013 either people are going to realise how f***ing insane this is and we have to have a conversation about being able to have conversations, or it\u2019s going to get a lot worse,\u201d Rogan said. \u201cThat\u2019s what\u2019s scary.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kirk, 31, was shot in the neck with a single bullet from a high-powered rifle about 150m away while speaking to a large crowd at an event at Utah Valley University.<\/p>\n
He was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.<\/p>\n
A massive manhunt for the shooter is still under way.<\/p>\n
The FBI released the first images of the \u201ccollege-age\u201d suspect, as they revealed that the rifle used to kill Kirk had been recovered.<\/p>\n
The images of the alleged shooter show a man wearing a baseball cap, dark sunglasses and a black long-sleeve shirt with an image on it.<\/p>\n
In one of the pictures, he appears to be walking up a stairwell.<\/p>\n
FBI Salt Lake City special agent in charge Robert Bohles earlier said authorities had \u201crecovered what we believe is the weapon in yesterday\u2019s shooting, a high-powered bolt action rifle\u201d.<\/p>\n
Bohles said the firearm was found in a wooded area where the assassin had fled.<\/p>\n
US President Donald Trump said authorities were \u201cmaking big progress\u201d in their investigation into Charlie Kirk\u2019s assassination.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hear they\u2019re making big progress, and we\u2019ll have to see what happens,\u201d he told reporters at the White House as he departed for New York, without providing further detail.<\/p>\n
Trump added that the shooter was \u201can animal, a total animal\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully they\u2019ll have him,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Asked if he had any thoughts on the shooter\u2019s motivation, Trump said, \u201cI have an indication, yeah, but we\u2019ll let you know about that later\u201d.<\/p>\n
He said he was \u201cnot really\u201d concerned about his safety following the shooting.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really concerned for our country,\u201d he said. \u201cWe have a great country. We have a radical left group of lunatics out there, just absolute lunatics, and we\u2019re going to get that problem solved. I\u2019m only concerned for the country.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump also told reporters he spoke with Kirk\u2019s widow Erika.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s devastated. She\u2019s absolutely devastated, as you can imagine,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Kirk, who founded the conservative campus organisation in 2012 and rose to become one of the most influential political figures in the country, leaves behind a 3-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son.<\/p>\n
