{"id":185600,"date":"2025-12-16T00:05:14","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T00:05:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/185600\/"},"modified":"2025-12-16T00:05:14","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T00:05:14","slug":"new-base-big-plans-for-the-whites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/185600\/","title":{"rendered":"New base, big plans for the Whites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/David-and-Stacey-White-Bet-N-Win-blog-v2__ResizedImageWzYwMCwzNDdd.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"347\" class=\"ss-htmleditorfield-file image\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Just as many are winding down for the summer,\u00a0 Stacey and David White are accelerating into an exciting new phase of their training careers.<\/p>\n<p>The well-known harness racing couple are embarking on a big change as David leaves his full-time job at the country&#8217;s leading barn Stonewall Stud at the end of this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Together with wife Stacey, who&#8217;s the Sponsorship and Marketing Manager at Woodlands Stud, they will relocate to a brand new, purpose-built facility at Ashburton Raceway.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a busy time but we are very excited about what\u2019s ahead,&#8221; says Stacey, &#8220;we are fully committed to making it work.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The couple will make the move from Christchurch in coming weeks, along with their two young children, aged two and 10 months. Until now they have been training a small team alongside David&#8217;s day job at Stonewall Stud&#8217;s Rolleston base.<\/p>\n<p>They have had 20 wins together since 2019 &#8211; including five in Australia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019re not starting from scratch,\u201d David said. \u201cWe already have the gear, the carts and the systems in place, which gives us a real head start.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Training independently has long been part of the Whites\u2019 long-term plan, and the timing now feels right.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s something we\u2019ve always worked towards,\u201d Stacey said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a big move, but it gives me flexibility with the kids and the chance to fully focus on our own horses,\u201d David added.<\/p>\n<p>Their first starters from their new base could be as early as January.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Initially there\u2019s capacity for around a dozen horses,\u201d David said. \u201cWe currently have eight, including five rising two-year-olds, and over time we could comfortably grow to 20 or 25.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Bet-N-Win-blog-ashburton-Oct-2024__ResizedImageWzYwMCwzNDdd.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"347\" class=\"ss-htmleditorfield-file image\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Their stable star without doubt is this year&#8217;s Rowe Cup winner Bet N Win.<\/p>\n<p>They purchased him for $32,500 in 2021.
