{"id":187845,"date":"2025-12-17T07:23:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-17T07:23:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/187845\/"},"modified":"2025-12-17T07:23:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T07:23:08","slug":"good-news-in-latest-update-on-nathan-williamson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/187845\/","title":{"rendered":"Good news in latest update on Nathan Williamson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nathan Williamson is making &#8220;remarkable progress&#8221; following his fall at Alexandra Park last Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>The Southland-based trainer-driver was dislodged from the sulky just as Captains Mistress looked set to win the group 1 Queen Of Hearts.<\/p>\n<p>The 37-year-old was taken to Auckland City Hospital with serious head injuries, and temporarily placed in an induced coma.<\/p>\n<p>Four days on his progress is &#8220;remarkable&#8221;, according to father Phil Williamson, who provided an update on last night&#8217;s The Box Seat.<\/p>\n<p>Williamson has a fractured skull and other broken bones but has been communicating well with friends and family and there have been other positive signs as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He got out of bed for the first time today (Tuesday) walking to the toilet with assistance,&#8221; says Phil.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He had nurses on either side and that&#8217;s massive progress from where we were.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So far there&#8217;s been no indication of just how long he will remain in hospital.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Rest is now the key thing,&#8221; says Phil.<\/p>\n<p>The family has also been very grateful for the huge outpouring of support they&#8217;ve had since Friday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To see Phil Williamson&#8217;s interview on the Box Seat click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=f3sqPt6nuQw&amp;t=703s\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Nathan Williamson is making &#8220;remarkable progress&#8221; following his fall at Alexandra Park last Friday night.
