<\/p>\nThe Americans star Matthew Rhys is heading back to the small screen in a new series that promises to blend “genuine horror with character-driven comedy.”<\/p>\n
Rhys will star in Apple TV’s new 10-episode series Widow\u2019s Bay, which is set to hit the streaming service next April. <\/p>\n
The first three episodes will drop on Wednesday, 29 April and will be followed by a new episode every Wednesday through to 17 June.<\/p>\n
Created by Katie Dippold, who penned The Heat and the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot, Rhys also serves as an executive producer on the series. On board to direct is Hiro Murai, who worked on the 2024 Mr & Mrs Smith series.<\/p>\n
The synopsis reads: “Widow\u2019s Bay is a quaint island town 40-miles off the coast of New England. But something lurks beneath the surface. <\/p>\n

There\u2019s no wifi, spotty cellular reception, and he must contend with superstitious locals who believe their island is cursed. <\/p>\n “He wants these people to respect him. They don\u2019t. They think he is soft and cowardly. And he is. But Loftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a tourist destination. Miraculously, he succeeds: tourists are finally coming.<\/p>\n “Unfortunately, the locals were right. After decades of calm, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true start happening again.”<\/p>\n Widow\u2019s Bay also stars Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Caroll and Dale Dickey.<\/p>\n Netflix<\/p>\n Rhys can currently be seen alongside Claire Danes in triller The Beast in Me, which stormed the Netflix chart last month<\/a>. <\/p>\n The eight-parter stars Danes as an author struggling with writer’s block following the death of her son.<\/p>\n Rhys plays her intriguing new neighbour who has a dark past after previously being accused of murdering his first wife.<\/p>\n Widow\u2019s Bay’s premieres on Apple TV on Wednesday 29 April.<\/p>\n Love TV?
