{"id":189819,"date":"2025-12-18T10:33:15","date_gmt":"2025-12-18T10:33:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/189819\/"},"modified":"2025-12-18T10:33:15","modified_gmt":"2025-12-18T10:33:15","slug":"weather-showers-chilly-temperatures-linger-across-new-zealand-in-lead-up-to-christmas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/189819\/","title":{"rendered":"Weather: Showers, chilly temperatures linger across New Zealand in lead-up to Christmas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"vUWuwjCGukMuO\" style=\"display:none\">MetService has issued two heavy rain watches for the Westland Ranges and the headwaters of the Canterbury lakes and rivers from 5am until 4pm tomorrow. <\/p>\n<p>Snowfall warnings<\/p>\n<p class=\"vUWuwjCGukMuO\" style=\"display:none\">Road snowfall warnings have been issued for Crown Range Rd and Milford Rd (SH94) from tomorrow afternoon until 10pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"vUWuwjCGukMuO\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cIt\u2019s not like we\u2019re expecting heaps of snow; it might not even accumulate, but it\u2019s relatively unseasonal,\u201d Ferris said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"vUWuwjCGukMuO\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cIf people are travelling around the south of the South Island tomorrow, it\u2019s something to be aware of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"vUWuwjCGukMuO\" style=\"display:none\">Showers are forecast to push across the North Island from the west tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u26a0\ufe0f Warnings Update<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udea7 Road Snowfall Warnings have been issued for Milford Road and the Crown Range Road for Friday. <\/p>\n<p>\u2744\ufe0f Showers may fall as snow, although little, if any, snow is expected to accumulate on the road. <\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\ude97 Please take care if on the roads. <\/p>\n<p>More info:\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/elgylsbTNZ\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/elgylsbTNZ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 MetService NZ (@MetService) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MetService\/status\/2001473444928737402?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">December 18, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"vUWuwjCGukMuO\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cThere looks to be a little more rain for Waikato, southwards overnight and into Saturday,\u201d Ferris said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"vUWuwjCGukMuO\" style=\"display:none\">The forecast looks the same for the top half of the North Island.<\/p>\n<p class=\"vUWuwjCGukMuO\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cThere are a few showers through Friday.
