The interaction took place in the appropriately named Shark Bay, located in Western Australia. In the video, the curious animal repeatedly approaches and circles the pair as they paddle by in a transparent kayak.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA curious tiger shark checking us out,\u201d describes the caption to their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/jay.and.loz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Instagram video<\/a>, posted to the account jay.and.loz. The matter-of-fact description belies the reaction the kayakers actually had, which was a mix of fear, joy, and excitement.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not the first time we\u2019ve seen unique animal encounters in Shark Bay. Earlier this year, a study published in Royal Society Open Science analyzed the curious behavior of bottlenose dolphins in Shark Bay.
