\n\tDave Chappelle<\/a> went after Bill Maher<\/a> in his new Netflix special, \u201cThe Unstoppable,\u201d for criticizing his appearance at Saudi Arabia\u2019s Riyadh Comedy Festival.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cRecently in the news, I\u2019ve been getting a lot of grief, again, because I did a comedy festival in Saudi Arabia,\u201d Chappelle said to applause. \u201cAnd you hear those cheers? That\u2019s Black people. America\u2019s whites, they\u2019re furious. Boy, I gotta tell you something. I\u2019ve never not felt guilty about something. I don\u2019t feel guilty at all. And Bill Maher, the famous comedian, I\u2019ve known Bill since I was like, 18, 19 years old, and I\u2019ve never said this publicly, but fuck that guy. I\u2019m so fucking tired of his little smug, cracker-ass commentary.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMaher was largely positive about the Riyadh Festival, calling the participating comedians \u201cbrave\u201d for breaking ground in a nation that hasn\u2019t always been welcoming for stand-up. However, Maher did take issue with Chappelle saying it\u2019s \u201ceasier to talk\u201d<\/a> in Saudi Arabia than in America.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s not true,\u201d Maher said of Chappelle\u2019s comment during an episode of \u201cReal Time.\u201d \u201cDo your hunk on Mohammed, Dave.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the special, which premiered Dec. 19, Chappelle addressed the controversial claim.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI didn\u2019t tell them to put this in the paper. I just said it on stage. I said, \u2018It\u2019s easier to talk in Saudi Arabia for me than it is in America,\u2019\u201d he said. \u201cOh, I stand ten toes on that. Don\u2019t forget what I just went through. Two years ago, I almost got canceled right here in the United States for transgender jokes. But I gotta tell you something. Transgender jokes went over very well in Saudi Arabia.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition to Chappelle, Riyadh\u2019s lineup included Kevin Hart, Pete Davidson, Bill Burr, Louis C.K., Whitney Cummings, Aziz Ansari and more.<\/p>\n

\n\tMaher was not the only comedian to come after Riyadh. Jimmy Kimmel<\/a>, David Cross<\/a>, Marc Maron and Shane Gillis<\/a> all spoke out against the festival. Participants like Burr and C.K. spoke<\/a> very favorably about Riyadh in the wake of the backlash.
