Newly minted Flemington trainer Andrew Noblet<\/a> has received a terrific Christmas present with the chance to train an exciting import with world class formlines.<\/p>\n

Noblet headed to Dubai earlier this month to get his first look at Do Or Do Not<\/a>, a Northern Hemisphere bred two-year-old that has run six minor placings in eight starts.<\/p>\n

However, four of the colt’s minor placings were in Group 2 company in England, including a game second during the 2025 Royal Ascot carnival.<\/p>\n

Do Or Do Not ran second in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes to the Aidan O’Brien-trained Gstaad, which went on finish second in Group 1 races in England, France and Ireland before winning the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf for colts and geldings in the US on November 1.<\/p>\n

Seymour Bloodstock founders Darren Thomas and Mark Pilkington agreed to buy Do Or Do Not from English trainer Jamie Osborne<\/a>, who had secured him from Blackpool Football Club owner Simon Sadler’s TBT Racing operation.<\/p>\n

Noblet and Pilkington were on hand at the Meydan Racecourse for Do Or Do Not’s first run in the Seymour Bloodstock silks on December 12.<\/p>\n

Osborne prepared the son of multiple French Group 1 winner Space Blues for what is expected to be the first of three Dubai assignments before the promising galloper travels to Australia in March.<\/p>\n

The trainer’s daughter Saffie Osborne rode the $1.60 favourite in his Dubai debut in which the horse ran three-quarters of a length second to Blue Point colt Power On Power \u2013 with five lengths to third in an encouraging effort at his first run since mid-September.<\/p>\n

“It was my first trip to Meydan- it’s an amazing facility,” Noblet said. <\/p>\n

“I’m pleased to have learnt about the horses temperament first hand. <\/p>\n

“He looks an uncomplicated and professional style of horse.<\/p>\n

“I suspect if he wins the UAE Guineas the boys will be tempted to leave him with Jamie, if not I will aim him at the $10m Golden Eagle in October.”<\/p>\n

While disappointed to be beaten, an optimistic Pilkington pointed out that former Lindsay Park star Fields of Omagh took seven starts to break his maiden and he went on to win two Cox Plates.<\/p>\n

Pilkington said the Osborne stable knew what it took to win feature races in Dubai and would give Do Or Not Do every chance to break through in the Group 3 UAE 2000 Guineas (1600m) at Meydan in late January.<\/p>\n

“Saffie rode a few for us when she was riding for the (Ciaron) Maher stable last year,” Pilkington said. <\/p>\n

“The Osborne team ran second in last years UAE Derby so hopefully we can go one better in the UAE 2000 Guineas next month.<\/p>\n

“\u2018It was a long way to go to get beat. Luckily, we were able to source another well credentialed English horse to come to Australia while there so as long as it passes the vet it will join Nobby’s Flemington and Ballarat operation.”<\/p>\n
