John Lennon\u2019s son, Sean Ono Lennon, is worried about the Beatles\u2019 legacy.<\/p>\n

During a new interview on \u201cCBS Sunday Morning,\u201d <\/a>Sean, 50, explained how he\u2019s made it his mission to make sure future generations know the impact that his late dad<\/a>, his mom Yoko Ono, and the band have had on music.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously the world is also the custodian of his legacy, I would say. I\u2019m just doing my best to help make sure that the younger generation doesn\u2019t forget about The Beatles and John and Yoko,\u201d Sean said. \u201cThat\u2019s how I look at it.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked if he thinks it\u2019s \u201cpossible\u201d that the legacies will be forgotten about over time, Sean replied, \u201cI do, actually. And I never did before.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy parents gave me so much that I think it\u2019s the least I can do to try and support their legacy in my lifetime,\u201d Sean continued. \u201cI feel like I just owe it to them. It\u2019s a personal thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sean added that he sees his parents\u2019 legacy as \u201cpeace and love.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it\u2019s not just peace and love. It\u2019s an attitude towards activism that is done with humor and love,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the Beatles\u2019 music, and John and Yoko\u2019s legacy, is something important for the world to kind of cherish and be reminded of,\u201d Sean further stated. \u201cSo, that\u2019s how I see my job.\u201d<\/p>\n

The musician also explained what inspired him to team up with Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson to make their 2018 version of John and Yoko\u2019s iconic song \u201cHappy Xmas (War Is Over).\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to see if I could get that feeling of maybe it sounds like you\u2019re hearing it again for the first time, or at least in a new context, in a way that you\u2019d pay attention, as opposed to, \u2018Oh, there it is on the radio again,’\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n

Later in the interview, Sean gave a rare update on his reclusive 92-year-old mother.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s good. I mean, you know, she\u2019s 92, so she\u2019s slowed down a lot, and she\u2019s retired,\u201d Sean said. \u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m kind of trying to do the work that she used to do. That\u2019s why I feel a lot of pressure, actually, to do my best, because she set a high standard for the way that she dealt with my dad\u2019s music, and the Beatles stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s always been very singular. And I think my dad was less so,\u201d Sean continued. \u201cYou know, he had Paul to write with, and then he was hoping that my mom would kind of be a writing partner. And I just think it\u2019s really funny that, you know, there\u2019s probably only one person in the world who would turn down John Lennon as a writing partner, and that\u2019s my mom, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n

Sean\u2019s famous father was gunned down<\/a>\u00a0by Mark David Chapman in New York City on Dec. 8, 1980, ten years after the Beatles dramatically broke up<\/a>. John was 40 years old.<\/p>\n

George Harrison<\/a> was the second Beatles star to die. He passed away of cancer in 2001 at age 58.<\/p>\n
