A three-metre-long bull shark has been snagged off Queensland’s coast, hauled in by a group of mates on Bribie Island.<\/p>\n

The mates fish frequently but say the catch is by far the biggest they’ve ever landed.<\/p>\n

“Jeez that’s a big boy,” the men can be heard saying as they reeled in the monster from the depths.<\/p>\n

The beast’s capture was half an hour in the making after it was hooked on a line.<\/p>\n

“It just took off, like a train, man,” fisher Jackson Fraser said.<\/p>\n

“And yeah, it was just incredible.”<\/p>\n

Fraser said it was the first shark caught by the mates that had broken the 10-foot mark.<\/p>\n

“I knew it was big from the start,” he said.<\/p>\n

“It just kept going and going and finally turned its head and just started pumping it in.”<\/p>\n

Experts say it’s no surprise in bull shark season.<\/p>\n

“Any shark over two metres is big, any shark over three metres is particularly big,” Associate Professor Daryl McPhee, of Bond University, said.<\/p>\n

“So it’s certainly a large shark.”<\/p>\n

The mates snagged a few photos before safely releasing the beast back into the blue.<\/p>\n
