As far as stag-do\u2019s go, Ronnie Bailey<\/a>\u2019s (Vinta Morgan<\/a>) last night of freedom in Coronation Street was a bit of a flop.<\/p>\n First, his bride-to-be, Debbie Webster<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0(Sue Devaney<\/a>) brother, Kevin Webster<\/a>\u00a0(Michael Le Vell<\/a>), stormed out<\/a> after realising that their other brother, Carl Webster<\/a>\u00a0(Jonathan Howard<\/a>) was in attendance. The brothers\u2019 relationship has been all but decimated by the reveal that Carl had been having an affair<\/a> with Kevin\u2019s wife, Abi<\/a>\u00a0(Sally Carman-Duttine<\/a>), with the two now in a relationship.<\/p>\n Next, Carl learned that his mum, Elaine (formerly portrayed by the late Judy Gridley) had died<\/a> of cancer. Utterly broken by the news, Carl lamented to Abi that he hadn\u2019t even known she was ill and she\u2019d made no effort to contact him prior to her death.<\/p>\n While Debbie confirmed to Carl that she\u2019d known nothing about the illness either, claiming to have heard nothing from her since their dad, Bill Webster (the late Peter Armitage) had passed away, but she wasn\u2019t telling the whole truth. She had, in fact, gotten in touch, but Debbie had forgotten to pass the message on due to her early-onset dementia<\/a>.<\/p>\n Metro readers think Debbie is Carl\u2019s mum<\/p>\n \t\t Is there more to Debbie forgetting that Elaine had gotten in touch? Metro readers reckon so, with Annie Fielding positing: \u2018I reckon Debbie is Carl\u2019s mom and that\u2019s why she never let him know she was dying or the secret would come out if he saw her.<\/p>\n \u2018I always reckoned she was his mum as she always changed subject when anyone mentioned why she never had kids.\u2019<\/p>\n Annie isn\u2019t the only one, though. Ritch Terry-Jones was feeling similar vibes: \u2018Why do I have a feeling Debbie is his mum?\u2019<\/p>\n Could it be true?<\/p>\n \t\t Bill Webster married Elaine, Carl\u2019s mum, when Kevin was fourteen, and Debbie was eleven, after their mum, Alison, had passed away following a battle with colon cancer.<\/p>\n Bill, Elaine, and Debbie moved to Southampton, with Kevin staying behind in Weatherfield. By 1986, the Websters were living in Germany, and Carl was born.<\/p>\n Debbie was eighteen at the time of the birth and, soon after, flew the nest, meaning Carl grew up with neither of his siblings frequently around, only reuniting with both of them properly for their dads funeral. Carl revealed that his relationship with his mum was strained; she decried him as a waste of space who\u2019d never amount to anything. It could also explain why she\u2019s been so soft with him, especially when it comes to his (alarmingly frequent) misdeeds.<\/p>\n Was Elaine so cold with Carl because he wasn\u2019t hers? If Carl is Debbie\u2019s, there\u2019d be no blood ties whatsoever.<\/p>\n What would it mean for the Websters?<\/p>\n \t\t After the year they\u2019ve had, with Debbie\u2019s diagnosis, Kevin\u2019s battle with testicular cancer<\/a>, Carl\u2019s penchant for vehicular-based crime<\/a> and affairs<\/a>, could they weather another storm if Debbie were revealed to be Carl\u2019s biological mother?<\/p>\n It would shift things drastically. Kevin would become Carl\u2019s uncle, and Carl would have to deal with the fact that his time with his new mum would be limited \u2013 Debbie\u2019s condition will eventually claim her life.<\/p>\n Speaking of Debbie\u2019s condition, could this be the way the secret is blown?
