Lady Gaga<\/a>\u00a0has released her concert film \u2018Lady Gaga in Harlequin Live \u2013 One Night Only\u2019 for free on YouTube \u2013 watch below.<\/p>\n

The show in question was filmed in the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles on 30 September 2024 in front of a small audience, and it saw her performing\u00a0tracks from her \u2018Harlequin<\/a>\u2019 album, the companion piece to the film\u00a0Joker: Folie \u00e0 Deux<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018Harlequin\u2019 is made up of\u00a0Gaga\u2019s\u00a0covers of jazz standards such as \u2018Get Happy\u2019,\u00a0\u2018Oh When\u00a0The\u00a0Saints\u2019,\u00a0\u2018That\u2019s Entertainment\u2019,\u00a0\u2018Smile\u2019 and \u2018That\u2019s Life\u2019,\u00a0with the entire project inspired by the musical interludes in\u00a0Todd Phillips<\/a>\u2019 film, in which Gaga played Harley Quinn.<\/p>\n

\u2018Lady Gaga in Harlequin Live \u2013 One Night Only\u2019 received a premiere at the Grammy Museum this week, and now\u00a0the 51-minute film has been posted to Gaga\u2019s official YouTube account, and you can watch the whole thing here:<\/p>\n

Explaining the YouTube release, Gaga told\u00a0Variety<\/a>:\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m\u00a0feeling like, why not? We have this thing\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0so special to us, so\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0just\u00a0really happy\u00a0to share it with the fans.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0kind of a\u00a0rebellious project. And, by Harlequin standards, Christmas is the perfect time to release something rebellious.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u2018Harlequin\u2019 album went on to be nominated for Best Traditional Pop Album at the 2026 Grammys<\/a>, while\u00a0Gaga\u2019s\u00a0more recent studio album \u2018Mayhem<\/a>\u2019 picked up a further seven nominations.<\/p>\n

Gaga headlined Coachella 2025<\/a> but did not play any of the tracks from \u2018Harlequin\u2019, prompting some fans to complain on social media. The singer herself responded to one comment<\/a>, describing \u2018Harlequin\u2019 as \u201cone of my proudest pieces of production\u201d.<\/p>\n

NME\u00a0also\u00a0gave\u00a0Joker: Folie \u00e0 Deux\u00a0a four-star review<\/a>, saying that Gaga \u201cshines in a provocative prison musical\u201d and: \u201c[director\u00a0Todd] Phillips and [co-writer Scott] Silver have delivered the last thing anyone expected: a socially responsible Joker movie that finds an intriguing way to explore the consequences (both on and offscreen) of the first film. Joker fans\u00a0shouldn\u2019t\u00a0cry\u00a0too hard though \u2013\u00a0Warner Bros.<\/a>\u00a0have cleverly found a way to leave the door open a little for the franchise to continue, should the need\u00a0arise.\u201c<\/p>\n

Others were not so complimentary about the film<\/a>, and Gaga has since said that\u00a0the negative\u00a0reaction made her \u201claugh\u201d because it was \u201cjust getting so unhinged\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018Mayhem\u2019,\u00a0meanwhile, was released in March\u00a0and earned four stars from\u00a0NME<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cThere\u2019s a nonchalant confidence in the way Gaga sticks to her maximalist vision without pandering to contemporary pop trends,\u201d the review read. \u201cMost \u2018Mayhem\u2019 tracks run close to or over four minutes, making them\u00a0mini-epics\u00a0in the TikTok era.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUltimately, \u2018Mayhem\u2019\u00a0feels like a great Gaga album because\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0just so much fun. At times,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0a bit like reconnecting with an old friend who makes sense even when they\u00a0seem to be\u00a0chatting nonsense. Seventeen years after she broke through with \u2018Just Dance\u2019,\u00a0Lady Gaga\u00a0remains\u00a0pop\u2019s foremost agent of impeccably crafted chaos.\u201d<\/p>\n
