\u201cIt\u2019s quite a small bay and there\u2019s lots of water pushing in. So, it\u2019s all got to go out and then rips form.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt can be quite hairy at times.\u201d<\/p>\n
Broome said it was always important for people to check the beach they were headed to had lifeguards on patrol.<\/p>\n
Lifeguards patrol some of the most popular Hawke\u2019s Bay beaches from 10am to 5pm seven days a week until January 25.<\/p>\n
Woodley-Hanan said it was \u201creally important\u201d to swim between the flags, but caregivers and parents should also stay within arm\u2019s reach of their children if they\u2019re swimming, even between the flags.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re not babysitters, we\u2019re here to do a job and help the community, but we can\u2019t look after every kid, so it\u2019s really important that parents are stepping up and keeping their children supervised and within reach.\u201d<\/p>\n
