The thread exploded with hundreds of honest responses.<\/p>\n<p>The Overwhelming Sentiment<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Most high earners who responded said they don&#8217;t expect or even want a 50\/50 financial split with their spouse. Instead, they view marriage as a shared life, not a financial contract.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWe are a team, there isn&#8217;t a \u2018mine and yours,\u2019 there is \u2018ours\u2019,\u201d one person earning over $1.2 million per year wrote. \u201cI buy and do what I want, she does the same.\u201d Another added, \u201cMy money is hers and her money is mine. Hers mine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Non-Financial Contributions Matter Too<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A recurring theme was that income isn&#8217;t the only way to contribute to a household. Many said their spouses are either stay-at-home moms, manage the household or run a small business.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI make about $650K a year. My wife runs a little online business that profits maybe around $40K a year,\u201d one user shared. \u201cShe also helps take care of our kids. My money is hers and her money is mine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI make north of $500K. My wife is a SAHM and enjoys spending my money (responsibly),\u201d one of the more popular comments said. \u201cShe worked coffee shop jobs, Instacart, DoorDash, etc, to pay the bills when I was in grad school and we were broke. I handle the heavy lifting so she and the kids can have a comfortable life,\u201d one person wrote.<\/p>\n<p>What About High-Earning Women?<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A number of high-earning women also chimed in and said dating can be difficult. Many men felt insecure about being out-earned.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cMy ex left me because I was making more than him. That was his insecurities,\u201d one woman wrote. \u201cMy current husband loves [that] I&#8217;m a boss lady. He is so proud and supportive. That is the type of man we deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI was making 200k more than him and I got called gold digger,\u201d another said. \u201cThe projection was strong.
