(Bill Roth \/ ADN) <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sans-serif\">PALMER \u2014 The latest in a series of significant windstorms hammered Mat-Su on Monday, leaving hundreds without power and reports of scattered damage. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sans-serif\">The storm marks the fourth weekend storm to bring powerful sustained winds and hurricane-force gusts to the region since early December. Damage from the first storm, which began on Dec. 6, prompted Gov. Parts of Anchorage also saw gusty winds, with a 32 mph gust reported Monday morning at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sans-serif\">A series of wind-triggered power outages started Sunday morning around Palmer and Wasilla and continued Monday. As of just before 7 a.m., a Matanuska Electric Association <a href=\"https:\/\/mea.outagemap.coop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/mea.outagemap.coop\/\">outage map<\/a> was reporting just over 1,500 members out, mostly in Talkeetna. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sans-serif\">There were scattered reports of damage and structure fires over the weekend, including at least one flipped semi-truck trailer. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sans-serif\">A National Weather Service <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weather.gov\/wrh\/hazards?&amp;zoom=11&amp;scroll_zoom=true&amp;center=61.566208635199445,-149.26780700683594&amp;boundaries=false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false&amp;tab=layers&amp;obs=true&amp;obs_type=weather&amp;elements=temp,wind,gust&amp;temp_filter=-80,130&amp;gust_filter=0,150&amp;rh_filter=0,100&amp;elev_filter=-300,14000&amp;precip_filter=0.01,18&amp;obs_popup=true&amp;obs_density=60&amp;obs_provider=ALL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.weather.gov\/wrh\/hazards?&amp;zoom=11&amp;scroll_zoom=true&amp;center=61.566208635199445,-149.26780700683594&amp;boundaries=false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false&amp;tab=layers&amp;obs=true&amp;obs_type=weather&amp;elements=temp,wind,gust&amp;temp_filter=-80,130&amp;gust_filter=0,150&amp;rh_filter=0,100&amp;elev_filter=-300,14000&amp;precip_filter=0.01,18&amp;obs_popup=true&amp;obs_density=60&amp;obs_provider=ALL\">high wind warning<\/a> for the lower Matanuska Valley remains in effect until 9 p.m. Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sans-serif\">\u201cWinds continue to gust in excess of 60 mph across much of the Matanuska Valley this morning,\u201d the agency said in an update early Monday. High winds are expected to continue through midmorning and gradually diminish through the day but not die down altogether until early Tuesday morning, the warning said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sans-serif\">The so-called Bora winds originate when super-chilled air over Interior Alaska gets funneled down the Matanuska River Valley.
