{"id":208209,"date":"2025-12-30T10:28:19","date_gmt":"2025-12-30T10:28:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/208209\/"},"modified":"2025-12-30T10:28:19","modified_gmt":"2025-12-30T10:28:19","slug":"pedigree-pointers-karaka-2026-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/208209\/","title":{"rendered":"Pedigree Pointers \u2013 Karaka 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2026 NZB National Yearling Sales (January 25-29) offers buyers the cream of the New Zealand crop and in the weeks leading up to the sale we\u2019ll go looking for pedigrees of interest for a myriad of reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Mares by champion sire Redoute\u2019s Choice are a powerful force in any pedigree and that fact was highlighted again at Gosford on Sunday when the Cambridge Stud bred Written Tycoon mare Kind Words captured the Group III Belle of the Turf Stakes (1600m) at Gosford.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Kind Words is the 183rd stakes-winner for Redoute's Choice as a broodmare sire! - image Bradley Photos\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/breednet-images-kind-words--28884.jpg\" style=\"width: 600px; height: 400px;\"\/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzb.co.nz\/sales\/26kaa\/461\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Cambridge Stud will offer her yearling half-sister at Karaka Book 1 and the Spirit of Boom filly from Gracious Grey will be offered as Lot 461.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Also in the catalogue are several yearlings bred on some of the very best nicks for Redoute\u2019s Choice mares.<\/p>\n<p>The late great So You Think has some very good stats with his daughters producing 73% winners to runners and six stakes-winners headed by Group I winners D\u2019Argento and Inference.<\/p>\n<p>There are two bred this way in Karaka Book 1.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzb.co.nz\/sales\/26kaa\/35\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Lot 35 Filly So You Think x Pedicel \u2013 Hallmark Stud<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Half-sister to SW Slipper Island f rom a winning half-sister to dual Group I winning $2.5million earner Nettoyer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzb.co.nz\/sales\/26kaa\/566\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Lot 566 Colt So You Think x My Amelia \u2013 Woburn Farm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Half-brother to Group I ATC Champagne Stakes winner The Mission and Group III placed Smart Amelia from a winning daughter of Group I winner Carry on Cutie.<\/p>\n<p>Elite Japanese bred stallion Maurice (Jpn) is another to nick well with REdoute\u2019s Choice mares producing 79% winners to runners and five stakes-winners headed by triple Group I winner Hitosu.<\/p>\n<p>There is just one bred this way in Karaka Book 1.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzb.co.nz\/sales\/26kaa\/536\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Lot 536 Filly Maurice (Jpn) x Manchu \u2013 Cambridge Stud<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Second foal of Group III placed Manchu from a quality European female family tracing back to Group I winning filly Crystal Music.<\/p>\n<p>Karaka 2026 marks the 100th National Yearling Sale at Karaka, selling 25 &#8211; 29 January.
