Police are “strongly interested” in dashcam footage of a two-vehicle crash that left one critically injured and closed a section of Auckland’s Southern Motorway for several hours this afternoon.<\/p>\n
Police said the southbound lanes were blocked at Randwick Park, between Hill Rd and Takanini, following a collision between a car and a motorbike at around 12.30pm on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
St John said it responded with two ambulances, a rapid response unit, and a manager.<\/p>\n
“Our crews assessed and treated two patients, one in a critical condition, and one in a moderate condition, who were both transported to Auckland City Hospital,” a St John spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
NZTA said the northbound lanes remained open but that traffic was heavy and “significant delays” could be expected.<\/p>\n
“If you\u2019re travelling south, please follow emergency services for detour details. Plan ahead, avoid the area if possible and expect delays.”<\/p>\n
The southbound lanes reopened at around 5.30pm on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Police said they were “strongly interested” in dashcam footage of the vehicles immediately prior to the crash, from people driving along the motorway around the same time.<\/p>\n
