{"id":210274,"date":"2025-12-31T17:04:16","date_gmt":"2025-12-31T17:04:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/210274\/"},"modified":"2025-12-31T17:04:16","modified_gmt":"2025-12-31T17:04:16","slug":"china-rolls-out-trade-in-funding-for-2026-as-campaign-to-spur-spending-continues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/210274\/","title":{"rendered":"China rolls out trade-in funding for 2026 as campaign to spur spending continues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">China has unveiled the details of an extension to its popular consumer goods trade-in scheme, a policy which has helped to fuel short-term boosts in consumption and contributed to the achievement of nationwide targets for economic growth.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) \u2013 the country&#8217;s top economic planner \u2013 announced with the Ministry of Finance that 62.5 billion yuan (US$8.93 billion) in <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/economy\/policy\/article\/3287255\/what-makes-chinas-ultra-long-special-bonds-so-special?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ultra-long-term special bonds<\/a> would be fast-tracked to local governments to support the programme for the first quarter of 2026, with subsequent funding to be disbursed quarterly.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The fund will continue to subsidise bedrock consumer sectors such as automobiles and home appliances, and has added tech-enhanced products such as smart glasses and smart home devices to its coverage range.<\/p>\n<p>This initial round of funding, however, is lower than the amount that was distributed at the same time last year. In 2025, the money was distributed in <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/economy\/china-economy\/article\/3315933\/chinas-massive-trade-programme-running-out-steam?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">four batches<\/a>, with 81 billion yuan in the first quarter and the year\u2019s total disbursements reaching 300 billion yuan.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Beijing will also continue to subsidise equipment upgrades and renewals for manufacturers.
