\u201cThere is a chance we will see a shower. There is a chance it will be heavy in the east from the afternoon to the evening, but the chances of seeing them aren\u2019t that high.\u201d<\/p>\n
Unsettled weather is forecast for the South Island this morning, especially in the northern and central parts.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe showers would be easing in the west in the afternoon but remaining in the east for longer,\u201d Burrows said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe remaining rain will be clearing in the afternoon for the northeast areas of the South Island, such as places like Marlborough and Nelson.\u201d<\/p>\n
A heavy rain warning in place for the Tasman District ranges west of Motueka is set to expire at 6am.<\/p>\n
The heavy rain watch issued for Buller lasts until 3pm today.<\/p>\n
Burrows said showers were forecast for the Canterbury region but these would ease in the evening.<\/p>\n
\u201cSouthland, Fiordland, Clutha and the Southern Lakes will be the most settled areas for the South Island.\u201d<\/p>\n
However, the risk of wet weather is forecast to return for the North Island tomorrow and Burrows said a front may push across the country through the second half of the day.<\/p>\n
\u201cPerhaps a bit showery for the South Island on Friday as well,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is still going to be some wet weather across the country in the next few days before we get into Sunday, where we might see more of a settled spell into next week.\u201d<\/p>\n
