{"id":210966,"date":"2026-01-01T03:13:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-01T03:13:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/210966\/"},"modified":"2026-01-01T03:13:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-01T03:13:10","slug":"increase-in-pensions-confirmed-the-portugal-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/210966\/","title":{"rendered":"Increase in pensions confirmed &#8211; The Portugal News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/eco.sapo.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ECO<\/a>\u2019s calculations and the government\u2019s information, the 2.8 per cent increase in the lowest pensions is confirmed. <\/p>\n<p>The same media outlet reveals that, according to the law, pensions must be updated in January, based on the average growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) over the last two years and the average annual variation in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), excluding housing. <\/p>\n<p>According to the published table, pensions up to \u20ac1,047.26 will be updated by 2.8 per cent in January. According to Labour Minister Maria do Ros\u00e1rio Palma Ramalho, the majority of pensioners fall into this bracket.<\/p>\n<p>For pensions between \u20ac1,074.26 and \u20ac3,222.78, the increase will be 2.27 per cent. For pensions above \u20ac3,222.78, an increase of 2.02 per cent is planned. Those receiving pensions above \u20ac6,445.56 will not receive any increase. <\/p>\n<p>According to the ECO, the approved decree states that pensions granted to those suffering from accidents at work will also be updated \u201cto the value resulting from the application of the 2.80% increase percentage\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Other increases<\/p>\n<p>The Social Support Index (IAS) will also rise, according to the same government decree, to \u20ac537.13, to be applied from January. <\/p>\n<p>This update will also have an impact on unemployment benefit limits.
