For Free and confidential support call 1800 858 858 or visit gamblinghelponline.org.au.<\/p>\n<p>Penalties for breaching the new rules may include financial penalties for offending clubs, players and agents along with salary cap penalties and, in the most serious circumstances, deregistration of club officials, agents and players.<\/p>\n<p>The NRL clarified that any public statements would not be considered tampering should the player is given permission by his or her current club to negotiate elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>The changes come after Lachlan Galvin\u2019s messy, mid-season exit from the Wests Tigers. Only adding to the drama were comments from Bulldogs supremo Phil Gould, who called Galvin \u201cthe best teenage footballer I\u2019ve ever seen\u201d in 2024 and declared he could \u201cearn more money out of rugby league than any player in history\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>While it is unclear if that incident in itself sparked the NRL\u2019s decision to alter its rules, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com.au\/nrl\/nrl-premiership\/nrl-2025-gus-gould-sneaky-tactics-to-sign-wests-tigers-lachlan-galvin-at-canterbury-bulldogs-transfers-latest-news\/news-story\/2f199040b5b0bb68fc841995b75408b9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">it did cause plenty of debate at the time<\/a> of Galvin\u2019s move to the Bulldogs. <\/p>\n<p>NRL planning more rule changes for 2026 | 03:25<\/p>\n<p>Veteran rugby league reporter Paul Crawley said on Fox League\u2019s NRL 360 that there was little doubt Gould was \u201cmaking a pitch\u201d for Galvin indirectly, while Andrew Webster revealed Gould\u2019s antics were starting to get on the nerve of rival clubs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the stuff that drives other clubs insane, because he\u2019s clearly pitching up for him and using that platform,\u201d Webster said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese blokes who have got television programs with conflicts of interest, it\u2019s a disgrace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s where Gus is smart, he gets the ball rolling and a narrative starting.
