(Kent Porter \/ The Press Democrat)<\/p>\n<p>Show Caption<\/p>\n<p>1 of 13<\/p>\n<p>A wave crashes against Goat Rock during the second day of record king tides, Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026,  (Kent Porter \/ The Press Democrat)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\" class=\"icon-enlarge mng-gallery-fullscreen-expand\" aria-label=\"Expand fullscreen slideshow\">Expand<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Surging seasonal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressdemocrat.com\/2026\/01\/02\/king-tides-northern-california-bay-area-coastline-king-of-them-all\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">king tides<\/a> and a bout of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressdemocrat.com\/2026\/01\/02\/bay-area-flooding-king-tides-expected-bay-area-rain-through-monday\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">heavy rain<\/a> Friday and Saturday morning created crashing waves and caused some minor flooding along the Sonoma Coast, raised water levels on the Petaluma River <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressdemocrat.com\/2026\/01\/02\/king-tides-and-winter-runoff-push-petaluma-river-to-highest-recorded-level-in-decades\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">to record highs<\/a> and triggered a coastal flood warning for the San Francisco Bay by the National Weather Service that will last through Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Press Democrat photographer Kent Porter captured the scene in Bodega Bay Friday and Saturday, as debris washed ashore at Salmon Creek State Beach and kite surfers took advantage of high winds at Doran Regional Park.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/roadclosures-sonomacounty.hub.arcgis.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sonoma County road closure map<\/a>, four roads in the region were closed due to flooding as of 3 p.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The closures include Todd Road in Santa Rosa, Valley Ford Road in Petaluma, Mark West Station Road in Windsor and Green Valley Road in Graton.<\/p>\n<p>Calls to county agencies for more information weren\u2019t immediately returned.<\/p>\n<p>Following a brief break in the rain Saturday, meteorologist Jan Null said showers are expected to resume again on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"The king tide digs in to Salmon Creek State Beach, Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, as a winter storm deposits additional debris.
