{"id":217644,"date":"2026-01-05T09:59:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-05T09:59:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/217644\/"},"modified":"2026-01-05T09:59:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T09:59:08","slug":"no-pin-for-transactions-above-rm250","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/217644\/","title":{"rendered":"No PIN for transactions above RM250"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you\u2019re using your Maybank credit and debit card via Google Pay, you can look forward to a more seamless payment experience in the next couple of weeks. <a href=\"https:\/\/soyacincau.com\/tag\/maybank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Maybank<\/a> has announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/soyacincau.com\/tag\/google-pay\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Google Pay<\/a> transactions exceeding RM250 will no longer require a PIN starting 27th January 2026.<\/p>\n<p>However, there\u2019s a maximum limit of RM2,500 per transaction for Maybank cards supported on Google Pay. If you wish to make a payment exceeding this amount, you\u2019ll have to use your physical credit and debit card instead of your mobile device.<\/p>\n<p>According to Maybank, credit card holders can continue to make multiple contactless transactions via Google Pay up to the card\u2019s limit. However, each contactless transaction should not exceed RM2,500. <\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re using Maybank debit card, each contactless transaction is capped at RM2,500 and the daily purchase limit depends on your settings. For added security, debit card users can choose to lower their Google Pay transaction limit by adjusting the debit purchase limit via M2U.<\/p>\n<p>To recap, Google Pay allows you to pay at contactless card terminals by tapping your Android smartphone with your added credit and debit card on Google Wallet. <\/p>\n<p>Google Pay was <a href=\"https:\/\/soyacincau.com\/2022\/11\/15\/google-pay-malaysia-now-available-official\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">officially rolled out in Malaysia<\/a> in November 2022 and eventually <a href=\"https:\/\/soyacincau.com\/2024\/05\/08\/maybank-google-pay-how-to-add-visa-mastercard\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Maybank added Google Pay support<\/a> in May 2024.
