{"id":220166,"date":"2026-01-06T20:05:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-06T20:05:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/220166\/"},"modified":"2026-01-06T20:05:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-06T20:05:07","slug":"all-bournemouth-and-poole-residents-to-get-food-waste-collections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/220166\/","title":{"rendered":"All Bournemouth and Poole residents to get food waste collections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The majority of people in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole already receive food waste collections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A new service will cover about 70,000 remaining properties in Poole and 30,000 in Bournemouth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The service will start from 6 April, with food waste collected every week on the same day as general rubbish.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Over the next few months, internal caddies and external food waste bins, along with instructions, will be delivered to each home ahead of the first scheduled collections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The update comes as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/science-environment-67176392\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">government reforms to recycling.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Councillor Andy Hadley, cabinet member for sustainability and environment at BCP Council, said: &#8220;Our aim is to help everyone to recycle more.  Every effort you make, big or small, makes a difference.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Around 30% of our household rubbish bin contents are food waste and separating this out cuts down on the amount of waste that ends up in landfill or other disposal sites &#8211; reducing greenhouse gas emissions which have a harmful impact on the environment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Every bit of food waste recycled helps cut council spending, meaning more money can go towards services that benefit everyone in the community.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The majority of people in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole already receive food waste collections.
