{"id":2251,"date":"2025-09-04T21:36:07","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T21:36:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/2251\/"},"modified":"2025-09-04T21:36:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T21:36:07","slug":"new-bookable-pods-at-this-surrey-library-are-for-solo-or-group-use","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/2251\/","title":{"rendered":"New bookable pods at this Surrey library are for solo or group use"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Free to book, the pilot-project pods could be coming to other branches in Surrey Libraries system<\/p>\n<p>New bookable pods at Surrey Libraries&#8217; Guildford branch might come in handy for individuals or small groups looking to study, take video calls, record content\u00a0or work together.<\/p>\n<p>Three new pods are now free to book at the facility, for those in need of &#8220;quiet, modern workspaces designed to support study, creativity, and collaboration,&#8221; according to a news release from Surrey Libraries.<\/p>\n<p>Part of a pilot project, the pods might be introduced to other branches in the Surrey public library system, if the response is positive.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They\u2019re sound-dampened, easy to reserve, and respond directly to what the community has been asking for: more quiet spaces to focus,&#8221; the organization says.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The bookable pods can also act as a low-sensory space for anyone overwhelmed by noise or bright lights, and for people seeking a space to do focused work such as taking tests or doing work that requires a high level of concentration with minimal distractions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Funding for the pods was made possible through donations to Surrey Libraries, for which &#8220;community support continues to play a vital role in helping the library grow and evolve to meet the growing community\u2019s needs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Anyone can use a pod for up to two\u00a0hours per day, by booking one in person at the library service desk, or by calling the library at\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" value=\"+16045987366\">604-598-7366<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Two pods are designed for individual use and have height-adjustable tables, while the third pod can accommodate up to four people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is such an exciting addition to our services,\u201d said Dr. Balbir Gurm, chair of Surrey Libraries&#8217; board of trustees. \u201cWe know how important it is for people to have access to quiet, flexible spaces in our libraries, whether they\u2019re students, remote workers\u00a0or creators. We\u2019re so grateful to our generous donors who made this possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Located at\u00a015105 105 Ave., Guildford public library has 35,300 square feet of space on two floors, and free parking for up to three hours.
