{"id":225978,"date":"2026-01-10T01:39:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-10T01:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/225978\/"},"modified":"2026-01-10T01:39:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-10T01:39:09","slug":"new-frank-lloyd-wright-logo-highlights-profound-void-of-lost-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/225978\/","title":{"rendered":"New Frank Lloyd Wright logo highlights &#8220;profound void&#8221; of lost projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New York design agency <a href=\"https:\/\/order.design\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Order<\/a> has created a new visual identity for the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy, which is informed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/frank-lloyd-wright\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wright<\/a>&#8216;s red square used in his signatures and a set of wooden blocks the architect used in childhood.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/order.design\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Order<\/a> created a new logo for the<a href=\"https:\/\/savewright.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy<\/a> (The Conservancy), as well as a new typeface, graphics and colour palette based around materials commonly used by Wright.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2285602 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/frank-lloyd-wright-conservancy-rebrand-order_dezeen_2364_col_15-852x479.jpg\" alt=\"Frank Lloyd Wright rebrand by Order\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1330\"  \/>Order has rebranded the Frank Lloyd Wright Conservancy<\/p>\n<p>The logo is made up of a four-by-four grid of small squares, with one square missing in the middle. This punched-out shape represents the void created when a Wright building is neglected, lost or threatened, according to the Conservancy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The &#8216;missing&#8217; square in the Conservancy&#8217;s new logo represents the profound void created should a single Wright building be lost or threatened with neglect \u2013 an evocative image that is as intentional in meaning as it is striking in form,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2285594 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/frank-lloyd-wright-conservancy-rebrand-order_dezeen_2364_col_7-852x568.jpg\" alt=\"Frank Lloyd Wright rebrand by Order\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1576\"  \/>The identity pulls in inspirations from the architect&#8217;s life and work<\/p>\n<p>The square shape also calls back to the red square Wright often incorporated into his work as a tag or signature, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/savewright.org\/frank-lloyd-wrights-red-signature-tiles\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a red tile placed on a building<\/a>, or a red square printed on drawings.<\/p>\n<p>This shape was then extruded and used to create a geometric, graphic representation of Wright&#8217;s buildings across the graphic identity, including a blocky Fallingwater house made up of rectangles.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2285595 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/frank-lloyd-wright-conservancy-rebrand-order_dezeen_2364_col_8-852x479.jpg\" alt=\"Frank Lloyd Wright rebrand by Order\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1330\"  \/>It seeks to emphasise the importance of preserving Wright&#8217;s buildings<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As the story goes, Wright&#8217;s fascination with architecture began with a gift of Froebel blocks from his mother,&#8221; said Order.\u00a0&#8220;The identity extends this idea through the graphic language of the symbol by creating an illustration system that adapts to each individual structure.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The palette, made up of a muted green, red, yellow and blue, was based on &#8220;the materials, textures, and tones one encounters in and around Wright&#8217;s buildings&#8221; such as the green used in stained glass windows and the red tone of his floors.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2025\/10\/09\/the-studio-frank-lloyd-wright\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"191\" height=\"191\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/the-studio-frank-lloyd-wright-apple-set-design_2_dezeen_2364_sq_7-191x191.jpg\" class=\"excludeLightbox wp-post-image\" alt=\"Frank Lloyd Wight studio for The Studio\" decoding=\"async\" data-pin-nopin=\"true\"  \/><\/p>\n<p> How The Studio&#8217;s production team created a convincing Frank Lloyd Wright building\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the identity&#8217;s typeface, Order used a customised version of <a href=\"https:\/\/optimo.ch\/typefaces\/reply\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reply<\/a> designed by <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/optimo.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Optimo Type Foundry<\/a>.
