BVI entrepreneur Kevin Fahie is set to bring the territory\u2019s youth enterprise story to an international audience when he speaks at the 5th Annual Progressism Summit and Experience in Dominica this month.<\/p>\n

Fahie, the interim chairman of the BVI Airport Authority Board, is scheduled to speak during the summit\u2019s Power Talk series, themed Breaking Barriers, which brings together business leaders and professionals from across the Caribbean and Africa.<\/p>\n

The event is being held under the wider theme, Bridging Caribbean and African Excellence: Progress Without Borders.<\/p>\n

Speaking ahead of the event, Fahie said his focus would be on highlighting the capacity and achievements of young entrepreneurs in the BVI. \u201cFor me, my vision and my goal is to show that, you know, us, the young up-and-coming individuals, we are capable and able to do a lot of things,\u201d Fahie said. \u201cThis is our time,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Highlighting BVI experiences<\/p>\n

He explained that his presentation would draw from his own experiences and those of other local entrepreneurs. Fahie said he intends to \u201chighlight and help speak for a lot of BVIslanders, a lot of young BVI entrepreneurs who have been doing great things,\u201d noting that the invitation provides an opportunity to showcase what is being achieved in the territory.<\/p>\n

Fahie described the summit as a platform to promote wider regional collaboration and support for youth enterprise. \u201cThe famous phrase is always that the youth is the future. But if you don\u2019t give the youth opportunity, it can\u2019t be the future. So when I have opportunities like these, I take it very seriously because this is a way for me to help open a door,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

He said organisers had invited him to take part in discussions focused on overcoming structural and economic barriers facing entrepreneurs across borders. The segment, he noted, explores \u201chow we can progress without borders\u201d by sharing experiences between Caribbean and African leaders.<\/p>\n

The summit takes place on January 11 at the InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort and Spa, followed by the three-day Progressism Experience forum from January 12 to 14 at the Fort Young Hotel in Roseau. Organisers have said the event aims to broaden its international reach, with participants expected from several Caribbean territories and African states, including Cameroon and Ghana.<\/p>\n
