Three people missing in the Victorian fires have been found safe.<\/p>\n

Authorities have clarified three three adults had been unaccounted for after the Longwood fire, and not a man, woman and child as previously stated<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“There was some confusion in terms of who they were,” Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police Mike Bush said. “It’s taken some time for us to fully assure ourselves that those people are now safe and well located.<\/p>\n

“They’ve been spoken to by CFA [Country Fire Authority] staff and by Victoria police.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a man in his 60s was found dead in a vehicle near Harcourt last night.<\/p>\n

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan told a media briefing the man’s death was not directly related to the fires, but was in close proximity to the fireground.<\/p>\n

Allan has declared a state of disaster, as bushfires continue to rage across the state.<\/p>\n

She said she understood that residents from fire-affected communities wanted to return home, but it was not safe for many areas.<\/p>\n

Emergency Management Commissioner Tim Wiebusch said this was one of Victoria’s most challenging fire and storm seasons, with 200 fires affecting every corner of the state yesterday.<\/p>\n

Ten of those fires remained at the major fire level and they would continue to burn for days, if not weeks.<\/p>\n

Wiebusch said the Otways and Gippsland regions were at risk, after lightning overnight.<\/p>\n
