Hyderabad: Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) has advised people to stop using Almont-Kid Syrup batch number AL-24002 after it was found adulterated with Ethylene Glycol (EG), a toxic industrial chemical.<\/p>\n
The alert follows a communication received from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), East Zone, Kolkata, based on a laboratory report confirming the presence of Ethylene Glycol in the syrup.<\/p>\n

Public advised to stop use immediately<\/p>\n
In the press note, the Drugs Control Administration stated that the public is \u201cstrongly advised to immediately stop the use of the above syrup, if in possession, and report the same to the nearest Drugs Control Authority without delay.\u201d<\/p>\n
The DCA further informed that citizens can directly report possession of the said batch to the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, through the toll-free helpline number 1800-599-6969, which operates from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on all working days.<\/p>\n
Action directed across Telangana<\/p>\n
All Drugs Inspectors and Assistant Directors across Telangana have been instructed to \u201cimmediately alert all retailers, wholesalers, distributors, and hospitals to freeze any available stocks of the said product batch and ensure that the same are not dispensed or sold under any circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the DCA, enforcement measures have already been initiated, and the department is actively monitoring the situation to prevent further risk to public health.<\/p>\n

The administration cautioned that Ethylene Glycol is a \u201chighly toxic substance\u201d and urged the public to \u201cexercise utmost caution and refrain from using the aforementioned product to avert any potential health hazards associated with Ethylene Glycol toxicity.\u201d<\/p>\n
