\n\tHBO Max\u2019s hit medical drama The Pitt<\/a> is quickly becoming an awards sweetheart in 2026. Following tonight\u2019s win for Best Actor in a Drama Series for Noah Wyle<\/a>, who leads the series and executive produces, The Pitt received the Best Drama Series at the Golden Globes.<\/p>\n

\n\tWith nearly every accolade the show receives, the real-life healthcare workers saving lives daily are never far from the minds of the cast and executive producers. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI want to thank the first responders and healthcare workers, who are the real heroes who inspire us,\u201d shared creator, showrunner, and executive producer R. Scott Gemmill, while accepting the group accolade. \u201cDebora Kahn from The Diplomat reminded me I have to thank all the civil servants, as well,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\n\tWyle also tipped his hat to healthcare workers during his acceptance speech earlier in the evening. <\/p>\n

\n\tSunday night\u2019s glitzy celebration reunited Wyle with his former ER co-star George Clooney<\/a> for a second time in the new year. Fans of The Pitt have voiced their wishes to see a new Wylie and Clooney collaboration on the HBO Max series, preferably with the latter playing a patient.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs the show recently wrapped work on its current season, it\u2019s back to the writers\u2019 room following a third-season renewal announcement at its season premiere last Wednesday. So maybe if Clooney and Wyle keep seeing each other, they can plot a cool surprise soon. <\/p>\n

\n\tSeason 2 of The Pitt premiered on January 9, picking up 10 months after the Season 1 finale. In the present day, it\u2019s the Fourth of July weekend, kicking off with Saturday, Dr. Michael \u201cRobby\u201d Robinavitch (Wyle)\u2019s final shift before taking off on his motorcycle for a sabbatical. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn preparation for his break, Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi\u00a0(Sepideh Moafi) has joined the fold as an attending physician, who will help Dr. Robby and later will work alongside Dr. Jack Abbot (Shawn Hatosy), with whom she shares an interesting connection. <\/p>\n

\n\tMost of the old Season 1 gang is also back, with the addition of multiple new student doctors, and a plethora of new medical cases, featuring some of the most shocking things you never imagined could happen in an ER.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe series also stars Katherine LaNasa, Shawn Hatosy, Taylor Dearden, Patrick Ball, Isa Briones, Fiona Dourif, Supriya Ganesh, Shabana Azeez and Gerran Howell. <\/p>\n

\n\tI caught up with Gemmill, who was a writer and executive producer on ER, about what inspires him to tell stories about medical workers at the show\u2019s Wednesday celebration.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe emergency room is sort of the crucible of humanity, where everybody ends up at some point; we all end up there. And its stories are just so, so touching, that it just feels like the place to tell stories,\u201d He revealed.<\/p>\n

\n\tFor The Pitt\u2019s first season, it\u00a0received five Emmy Awards from 13 nominations, with wins for Wyle for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, LaNasa for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, and Hatosy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Additionally, the show was honored with Outstanding Drama Series. More recently, Wyle received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a TV Drama Series, and the show received a nod for Best TV Drama.<\/p>\n
