Certain bars of soap have been recalled in Canada due to a \u201cchemical hazard,\u201d officials say.<\/p>\n

Consumers are being advised to \u201cimmediately stop using\u201d them.<\/p>\n

\u201cHealth Canada\u2019s sampling and evaluation program has determined that the recalled products contain methyl eugenol above the maximum concentration outlined in the Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist,\u201d Health Canada said in a notice published Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cMethyl eugenol is prohibited as a pure ingredient on the Hotlist due to its potential for carcinogenicity but is permitted as a naturally occurring component in botanical extracts with specific limits depending on the product type.\u201d<\/p>\n

The affected products are Lake of the Woods Sunrise Soap Co. \u2013 Shades of Grey Bars of Soap, the notice said.<\/p>\n

Sizes of 16 g, 67 g, and 135 g are affected.<\/p>\n

They were sold from January 2019 to January of this year.<\/p>\n

The company said that around 400 units were sold in Canada.<\/p>\n

Consumers should not use the bars of soap, throw them out, and contact Lake of the Woods Sunrise Soap Co. for a replacement, Health Canada said.<\/p>\n
