Jenny Nicholson<\/a>\u2019s impact. Disneyland<\/a> is rejecting modernity and embracing tradition, at least as far as Star Wars is concerned. According to the Los Angeles Times<\/a>, characters from the original trilogy will start wandering Galaxy\u2019s Edge, and John Williams\u2019 score will replace the ambient spaceport noises piped throughout the land. So it\u2019s \u2019til the spires<\/a> to immersive worldbuilding, bright suns to getting selfies with your favorite guys from childhood.<\/p>\n

Previously, the company was very invested in setting Galaxy\u2019s Edge in a particular time and place \u2014 Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu, between Star Wars: Episode VIII \u2013 The Last Jedi\u00a0and\u00a0Episode IX \u2013 The Rise of Skywalker. Now, to borrow a phrase from a different sci-fi franchise, Imagineering is getting timey-wimey with the chronology. Han will be posted up by the Milennium Falcon and\/or Oga\u2019s Cantina, Luke will be stomping his Chanel boots in the marketplace, and Darth Vader will be force-choking dads in Grumpy tees.<\/p>\n

This news comes at a dicey time for Star Wars as a whole. Andor<\/a> was a critical darling, but other shows and movies from franchise haven\u2019t exactly been setting the galaxy ablaze. There are upcoming Star Wars stories (The Mandalorian and Grogu<\/a> comes out this May, and Shawn Levy\u2019s Starfighter<\/a> next year) but the Skywalker-Rens may be dunzo. In October 2025, Adam Driver told AP<\/a> that Disney had nixed a standalone Kylo Ren movie with Steven Soderbergh. \u201cWe presented the script to Lucasfilm. They loved the idea. They totally understood our angle and why we were doing it,\u201d Driver says. \u201cWe took it to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman and they said no. They didn\u2019t see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that.\u201d Well Darth Vader is dead at the time of Galaxy\u2019s Edge, so do we care about the laws of time and space or not at this company? \u201cNot\u201d seems like it could be more fun.<\/p>\n
