\u201cYeah, Monte, we were not so far,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd also, yeah, Canary Islands, it was a little close at some moments, but it is what it is. He still did three rallies less, so that\u2019s not an advantage at the end of the day.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just to be aware that the situation can change during the year. I guess it\u2019s a lesson that every point always counts.\u201d<\/p>\n
Having said that, Evans believes Chile and Japan were the true turning points in the title battle.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe finished the season pretty strong in a way,\u201d he said. \u201cWhat was missing, I guess, two key events\u2026 even though the performance was not bad on them, when you look at Japan and Chile, we were fighting with S\u00e9b all the way to the end, and if we had been able to do a bit more and won those rallies, then that would have had a massive change and swing in the outcome.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut it didn\u2019t happen, so it\u2019s like that. There\u2019s many moments you can pick in the season \u2013 you can say like Portugal and Sardinia, we were pathetically slow.
