The Chief Financial Officer for RT\u00c9 has resigned from her post, less than 18 months after taking up the position.<\/p>\n
Mari Hurley took up the role as CFO in August 2024 after Richard Collins left the post following the Ryan Tubridy controversy.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued tonight, the broadcaster said Ms Hurley “has decided to leave her role as RT\u00c9’s Chief Financial Officer to take up a new position outside RT\u00c9. Mari will remain with RT\u00c9 until spring”.<\/p>\n
RT\u00c9’s Director General Kevin Bakhurst said: “Since she joined RT\u00c9 in 2024, Mari has provided excellent professional advice, insight and support to me and to the leadership team in what has been a challenging time for the organisation.<\/p>\n
“I would like to thank her for the significant amount that she has achieved during her time in RT\u00c9 which has been helpful in putting the organisation back on a financially sustainable path.<\/p>\n
“Mari has been meticulous in dealing with legacy issues as we put a robust governance framework in place for the future and we are grateful to her for that,” added Mr Bakhurst.<\/p>\n
Mari Hurley said: “RT\u00c9 continues to perform a vital role for Irish audiences as a public service media organisation. The extensive work we have done during my time in RT\u00c9 has been an important part of the delivery of greater governance across the organisation.<\/p>\n
“I would like to wish Kevin, the Board and all my colleagues at RT\u00c9 every success as they continue the significant transformation programme under way at RT\u00c9.”<\/p>\n
The Minister for Arts Patrick O’Donovan issued a statement saying he had been informed tonight of the resignation of Ms Hurley.<\/p>\n
“The Minister wishes to thank Ms Hurley for her service and wishes her well in the future.<\/p>\n
“He will be engaging with the Chair and Director General of RT\u00c9 in the coming days,” added the statement.<\/p>\n
