One woman said she and her family decided to take advantage of the free services and caught the bus to and from the concert<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, when they arrived at Britomart in the CBD they found themselves among swarms of people trying to catch a bus to the North Shore.<\/p>\n

Melissa, who did not want her surname published, said despite the special event transport put on by Auckland Transport, they failed to consider the connecting bus people would need to catch home to the North Shore from Britomart and did not put on any extra buses.<\/p>\n

\u2018Absolutely ridiculous\u2019 waiting times for buses<\/p>\n

She said many people had to wait for buses that were not expected to arrive until 12.30am, 1.30am and 2am, as shown on the station screens providing real-time updates.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbsolutely ridiculous,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old who were just very tired at that point. But there were kids 10 and under, easily.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a long line in front of us and even more people behind us. We waited for 15 minutes before getting an Uber. But not everyone can do that.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was just frustrating because everyone was doing the right thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The family paid $42 for an Uber trip to Constellation bus station, where they had parked. They got home about 1am.<\/p>\n

Melissa said she wanted to warn people heading to tonight\u2019s concert of what they may face after the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe there\u2019s someone at home who can pick you up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other fans opted to get an Uber from the venue itself but that involved at least a 20-minute wait from nearby Rockfield Rd.<\/p>\n

The Herald\u2019s Varsha Anjali, who reviewed last night\u2019s concert<\/a>, said: \u201cI tried to get a taxi, but they told me it would cost $120 to get to the CBD and they said they wouldn\u2019t put the meter on.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Uber fare would have cost her $30 but there was a 20-minute wait.<\/p>\n

\u201cThankfully, my friend\u2019s dad offered me a lift and I could feel 16 again. Then it took another 30 minutes to crawl out of Rockfield Rd.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tonight\u2019s show kicks off at 5.15pm, with gates opening at 4pm.<\/p>\n
