Meghan Markle<\/a> has shared some throwback video footage of her and Prince Harry<\/a> dancing in a video filmed by their daughter Princess Lilibet.<\/a><\/p>\n Meghan shared the intimate clip on her Instagram<\/a> on Friday, January 16 and it is her first post on the platform since the start of the New Year<\/a>. The clip is a nod to the new social media trend where people share pictures or videos of themselves back in 2016 and compare them to a snapshot of their life in 2026.<\/p>\n It’s all about ‘2026 being the new 2016’. The viral<\/a> trend is a nostalgia movement, primarily on TikTok<\/a> and Instagram<\/a>, that celebrates the mid-2010s as a “golden age” of internet culture. Fans have been unable to comment on the sweet video as Meghan has turned off comments.<\/p>\n As well as the short black and white video clip the Duchess also shared a picture of her and Harry witht heir arms around each othe during a trip to Botswana in August 2016 to mark their third date. The picture and caption appears to be a nod to the viral throwback trend in which people share nostalgic photos of themselves from ten years ago.<\/p>\n Content cannot be displayed without consent<\/p>\n Other celebrities to have jumped on the viral bandwagon include Meghan’s pal Mindy Kaling, comedian Amy Schumer, actress Eva Longoria and Hailey Biebe.<\/p>\n Stacey Solomon<\/a> also took to Instagram for her 2016 trend post, writing: “No because truly the 2016 trend makes me feel like I have had a previous life, why does 10 years feel like a lifetime ago. Also HOW DID I WIN THE CHASE. And genuinely still to this day none of us know what Joe Swash<\/a> dressed up as for Halloween 2016, hope these make you smile as much as they did me while I was looking through them!”<\/p>\n However, not everyone is a fan of the new trend. Helen McPherson, known for posting millennial content to her 100,000 followers on TikTok, recently shared a reel about why she thinks the trend is ‘stupid’.<\/p>\n Speaking into the camera, Helen said: “The 2026 is the new 2016 is a stupid trend invented by young people. This has not been created by millennials or elders.”<\/p>\n Helen said to her, 10 years ago feels like it was 1990. She added: “I’m not going to post a picture from 2016, it’s just literally like the other day. I won’t look any different in a picture from 2016.<\/p>\n “I’m wearing a bra that I purchased from Marks & Spencer’s in 2016. There are shirts at the bottom of the ironing basket that I haven’t touched since 2016.
