{"id":238004,"date":"2026-01-17T11:54:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-17T11:54:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/238004\/"},"modified":"2026-01-17T11:54:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-17T11:54:07","slug":"wind-advisory-issued-for-east-portland-metro-strong-gusts-in-columbia-river-gorge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/238004\/","title":{"rendered":"Wind advisory issued for east Portland metro, strong gusts in Columbia River Gorge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TROUTDALE, Ore. \u2014 A windy start to the weekend is in store for parts of Western Oregon and Southwest Washington, with strong gusts in some places reaching up to 40 mph.<\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service \u2013 Portland office issued a wind advisory for parts of the east Portland metro area and the western Columbia River Gorge for strong east winds.<\/p>\n<p>The gusts could blow around unsecured objects, like trash cans, and could also bring down trees and debris \u2013 potentially causing power outages.<\/p>\n<p>The NWS warned that the gusts will be strongest along the Interstate 84 corridor, through Troutdale, Fairview and Gresham.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUse extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects such as garbage cans and other objects that can easily blow around,\u201d the NWS said.<\/p>\n<p>The wind advisory was put in place through 3 p.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Comment with Bubbles<\/p>\n<p>JOIN THE CONVERSATION (5)<\/p>\n<p>The wind prompted ODOT to <a href=\"https:\/\/katu.com\/news\/local\/wind-gusts-cancel-odots-overnight-closure-of-abernethy-bridge-in-west-linn-oregon-willamette-river-i-205-interstate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">cancel a planned overnight closure of I-205 at the Abernethy Bridge<\/a> in West Linn.
