It’s been 15 years since Charlie Sheen<\/a> was fired from his hit TV show, Two and a Half Men, after going to rehab for drug abuse, and on Jan. 18, he revealed where he stands with his longtime costar,Jon Cryer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“How are you and Jon?” Sheen’s father, Martin Sheen, asked during a conversation on The Martin Sheen Podcast<\/a>. “I think we’re good,” said Sheen. “I mean, we don’t really hang out or talk, but I love that he showed up for the doc.”<\/p>\n

Cryer, who played the neurotic brother to Sheen’s womanizer character on the CBS<\/a>sitcom<\/a> from 2003 to 2011 before Sheen was replaced by Ashton Kutcher<\/a>, appeared in Sheen’s 2025 Netflix<\/a> documentary Aka Charlie Sheen. Sheen told People<\/a> that he appreciated how “compassionate and honest” Cryer was in the documentary, and still seems to feel warmly about him.<\/p>\n

“I thought that was super generous,” Sheen continued while talking to his acting legend father before laughing, “I mean, he’s still taking shots. He’s still taking shots in the doc.” Sheen insists he’s not bothered by any criticism he received from his costar in the film. “I’ve weathered worse,” he said.<\/p>\n

Sheen also reflected on the success<\/a> of Two and a Half Men, remembering how networks originally didn’t even want to make it. “We were told when we went on the air that the sitcom was dead and it was all about reality television,” he remembered, saying people told them they didn’t “stand a chance.”<\/p>\n

“We were like, ‘All right, everybody take it easy. Take it easy,'” he joked. The show went on to be a huge revenue generator for CBS and one of the most popular shows on TV at the time.<\/p>\n

These days, Sheen is hoping to recapture the success of Two and a Half Men. He’s teaming up again with Jim Patterson, one of his old show’s head writers, to work on a “family<\/a> sitcom” called Happy Jack.<\/p>\n

“He just wants to bring something kind of like what we did back in the day, you know, bring something to that world that’s desperately missing right now,” Sheen explained of Patterson. “Trying to watch any sitcom these days is work… I wonder how a joke<\/a> made it from Monday to Friday<\/a> when I’m watching these shows.”<\/p>\n
